Overview of Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong financial control over revenue, accounts receivable, payroll, and expenses, while driving working capital optimisation in a fast-paced commercial business. The role also supports statutory reporting, tax, and audit processes, and partners with non-finance colleagues to provide financial insight and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management accounts and analysis relating to revenue, accounts receivable, expenses and payroll
* Optimise working capital and credit control
* Support revenue recognition and accounts receivable processes (e.g. aged debtors)
* Manage and continuously improve the employee expenses process to ensure compliance and efficiency
* Assisting with statutory accounts, tax returns, and audits
* Partnering with non-finance colleagues to provide insight and guidance
Key Performance Indicators
* Aged debtors
* Days sales outstanding (DSO)
* Working capital cycle
* Expense claim metrics
* Accuracy and timeliness of month-end close
* Compliance with statutory reporting deadlines
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
* Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or studying towards
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles (FRS 102 / IFRS)
* Excellent Excel and financial systems skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to interpret financial data and present insight to non-finance stakeholders
Desirable
* Sector experience (e.g. agriculture, manufacturing)
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Business Central

*This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
