The role
Role: Finance Assistant Location: Tanworth in Arden CofE Primary School Salary: Band E (NJC Scale 5-6) Pro Rata Hours: 17.5 hours per week Working weeks: 39 weeks Days a week: Monday to Friday – 3.5 hours per day – times to be agreed at interview Closing date: Midday Friday 26 th June 2026. Tanworth in Arden CofE Primary School is looking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic and committed Finance Assistant to live out our vision of “life in all its fullness” together as a school community. We are a primary school and nursery located in the picturesque village of Tanworth in Arden in South Warwickshire. We have 198 pupils on role in school and a further 31 children registered in our nursery. We received a ‘good’ Ofsted in September 2022 for our school and nursery. We also run a popular wrap around care provision known as The Ark which supports families with childcare from 7.30am – 6pm. Both the nursery and The Ark are run as separate businesses to the school and are essential components in ensuring sustainability. We are looking for some who can: Work under general instruction and guidance, handling a range of administrative processes and tasks that are covered by established procedures, but prioritises own workload. Produces documents from drafts or can amend standard formats on a computer. Inputs/retrieves information on financial packages using initiative where necessary. Provides administrative support to the Wraparound service as operated by the school. Work is governed by established processes/procedures. Refers complex problems upwards. Role requires some initiative to be exercised. Specific training in the job or previous relevant experience plus short induction required. This post supervises has some budgetary responsibility. Contribute to the school’s statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. You should be: Educated to at least GCSE/GCE O level /CSE grade 1, in literacy and numeracy to be able to write letters, take minutes, maintain budget records, work with data bases. Previous knowledge of accounting software such as Access. Previous experience (or formal training and experience) Can use initiative, within recognised procedures. Can deal with unexpected problems/situations, though has access to Head for advice on unusual or difficult problems. Can respond to varied problems or develop solutions. Applies ideas/concepts created by others. Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people Value and respect the views and needs of children Able to use all office equipment and has knowledge of administrative and word processing software packages. Able to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues, parents, pupils and can gather, receive or exchange information on an everyday basis. Our pre-employment process will also include Teacher Prohibition List checks, overseas checks (where applicable); proof of qualifications (as specified in the person specification); section 128 checks (for those in management roles); medical fitness checks; identity and right to work checks.
