Consultant in Ear, Nose and Throat – NHS Scotland (NHS Ayrshire and Arran)

We are expanding our ENT team from six to eight consultants and invite an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join as Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Consultant. The successful candidate will complement a multidisciplinary team that includes Head and Neck Cancer Surgeons, Cochlear Implant surgeons and the National Cochlear Implant Service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide general adult and paediatric ENT care, including assessment, surgery and follow‑up.
* Participate in a consultant on‑call rota (currently 1:6, anticipated 1:8 after recruitment).
* Work with the team in a multidisciplinary setting, contributing to MDTs, service development, clinical audit and research.
* Manage day‑case and in‑patient services at University Hospital Crosshouse and out‑patient clinics at Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr, including specialist clinics such as middle ear implant, neck lump, head and neck oncology, cochlear and balance clinics.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full GMC Registration and placement on the GMC Specialist List in ENT, or equivalent training and experience.
* Experience working within Adult and Paediatric ENT, with exposure to Head and Neck oncology or Cochlear Implant procedures preferred.
Terms and Conditions
Full‑time permanent position based on the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004, with sessions offered on a 10 PA basis. Applicants wishing to work fewer programmed activities are welcomed.
