Overview
Technical Key Account Manager – Material Handling Equipment
This role focuses on establishing and maintaining strong client relationships, using technical knowledge and commercial acumen to identify and drive business growth opportunities within engineering manufacturing (ideally food).
Responsibilities
* Schedule regular visits to UK customer sites to understand their current production challenges and stringent requirements
* Offer technical solutions to customers to counteract their current production issues
* Carry out technical demonstrations of prototype equipment to customers to secure new business
* Maintain in depth knowledge across the company’s product portfolio, including key features and functions
* Monitor and chase sales enquiries and outstanding quotations
* Review cost modules, pricing structures, and vendor agreements
* Help to develop and complete technical proposals and tenders
* Oversee key stages of the project life cycle, including manufacturing stages, to ensure key requirements, SLAs and quality standards are adhered to
* Provide regular project progress updates to customers
* Log key customer information into the company CRM system and provide regular periodic sales and forecasting reports for senior leadership
Skills & Experience
* Formal qualification in Engineering, Design or a technical related subject
* Previous experience working for a food-based material handling manufacturer is a distinct advantage
* Sound product knowledge of equipment such as roller conveyors, feeders, sortation systems, hoists, palletisers
* Proven capability in building and maintaining professional customer relationships
* Previous technical sales experience, with the confidence to upsell customers
* Experience working with cost sheets, producing detailed quotes and estimations
* Experience producing tenders and proposals is highly desirable
* Flexible with UK wide travel when required, including some overnight stays
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages and CRM/ERP systems
