Overview
West Northamptonshire Council is seeking to appoint a Graduate Estates Surveyor into its Property Strategy and Estates team. The role offers the opportunity to work on a varied property portfolio, including day-to-day management of Landlord and Tenant activities, lease renewals and rent reviews, asset disposals and acquisitions, with support to become a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) at the earliest opportunity.
What will you be doing?
* Work on an extremely varied caseload across a diverse property portfolio, reporting to the Estates Manager or the Property Strategy and Major Transactions Manager (as appropriate).
* Deliver a programme of Landlord and Tenant activities, including lease renewals and rent reviews, as well as asset disposals and acquisitions to meet the Council’s best value obligations.
* Involve in the day-to-day management of the Council’s extensive commercial investment portfolio (office, retail, and industrial properties) across West Northamptonshire.
* Support the wider estates team to deliver service objectives, seeking to minimise outgoings and maximise revenue.
* Build on your knowledge gained through your degree, with workload tailored to support the training requirements for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
* Receive full support for your studies as you work towards becoming a professional member of the RICS, building a long-term career with the Council as a Chartered Surveyor.
About You
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in an Estates Management or similar discipline.
* Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (or equivalent professional qualification).
* Experience of working with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, MS Teams).
* Desire and commitment to build a career as a Chartered Surveyor and work towards RICS membership as expeditiously as possible.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Good understanding of Landlord and Tenant matters and principles affecting local government, contracts, and related issues.
* Experience gained through your degree or work placement that enables supporting efficient and cost-effective running of operational and income-producing assets.
