Payroll Specialist
Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
Job Overview:
A well-established organisation based in Milton Keynes is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join their finance team. This hybrid role offers flexibility and the chance to work in a collaborative environment, supporting payroll operations across multiple UK entities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation, and maintaining alignment with internal policies. This role also includes ownership of the Group Travel and Expenses Policy, and oversight of employee expense submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process monthly payroll for all Group entities with precision and timeliness.
* Review and reconcile payroll data including starters, leavers, tax codes, and overtime.
* Maintain and update payroll systems such as XERO and Sage Payroll.
* Collaborate with HR, Finance, and department heads to verify payroll changes.
* Submit all HMRC returns including FPS and EPS accurately and on time.
* Manage monthly CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions.
* Oversee employee expense approvals and maintain accurate records.
* Administer and update data in the Concur expense platform.
* Ensure compliance with pension schemes and auto-enrolment regulations.
* Support year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds, and audit documentation.
* Handle payroll-related queries with discretion and professionalism.
* Maintain GDPR-compliant payroll records and ensure data integrity.
Skills &; Experience Required:
* Proven experience in payroll processing within a multi-entity or shared services environment.
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax codes, and pension regulations.
* Proficiency in Sage Payroll or XERO or similar systems.
* Experience with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) is essential.
* Familiarity with Concur or other expense management platforms.
* High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and time management.
* Strong administrative and communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
* Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Qualifications:
* A-Level education (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
* Payroll or finance certification such as CIPP is highly desirable.
