Job Summary: The 0-19 Targeted Nurse for school age children will participate in the identification and safeguarding of vulnerable children and their families in partnership with other agencies. As the 0-19 Targeted Nurse, you will champion and manage the implementation and compliance of safeguarding policies and procedures, and support the clinical/safeguarding supervision appropriate to your role in the team.
Main Duties of the Job: The post holder will work with children and young people within a multi-agency safeguarding arena to enable them to reach their full potential (physically, emotionally, and socially) through education and healthy lifestyles. Responsibilities include:
1. Developing, leading, planning, and delivering a range of services for children and their families within a safeguarding caseload in various settings.
2. Being a Safeguarding Champion in the team, supporting and implementing current and new safeguarding agendas for children and young people as directed by national and local strategic guidance.
3. Acting as a key link and support for the wider safeguarding agenda, working closely with the Corporate Safeguarding team.
4. Contributing to safeguarding supervision of others within the 0-19 Children's Universal Team.
5. Assisting the development of knowledge and skills across the 0-19 Children's Universal Services to raise quality and practice standards.
6. Supporting the Locality Lead in examining and responding to any complaints or investigations that have a safeguarding element.
7. Providing a public health-based service that contributes to improving the health of children and their families in Salford through partnership working.

Qualifications:
1. Essential: Safeguarding/Clinical Supervision Training or experience and/or willingness to work towards.
2. Evidence of further study/short course post grad diploma level.
3. Desirable: Completion of mentor and/or assessors' module and/or willingness to complete.
4. Sexual Health Qualification (e.g., CRASH level 1) and Nurse Prescriber V100/150 or willingness to complete.
5. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Studies.
Professional Registration: Registered Midwife or Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register.
Knowledge/Training/Experience:
1. Evidence of recent/current experience working within a 0-19 Children's Community service.
2. Experience of working with safeguarding children and young people in a multi-agency setting.
3. Management experience of complex safeguarding cases (including Level 4 CP, CIN, and LAC).
4. Experience of participating in clinical and/or safeguarding supervision.
5. Understanding of the national safeguarding agenda and safeguarding legislation.
6. Understanding of recent public health agenda associated with Children and Young People.
7. Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge acquired through CPD.
8. Current/recent experience and understanding of school health service.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Demonstrates involvement in supervision of students.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and initiative with the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people, parents/carers, and multi-agency teams.
4. Evidence of leadership skills.
