Responsibilities:
* Lead HV switching operations up to 33kV, including isolation, earthing, and safe switching processes.
* Oversee operational BESS sites, ensuring high-voltage systems are functioning optimally.
* Ensure compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, CDM Regulations, and other relevant UK standards.
* Issue permits and safety documentation for high-voltage activities.
* Conduct risk assessments and prepare method statements for HV-related tasks.
* Provide leadership to onsite electrical teams and manage contractors during site activities.
* Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and service teams.
* Report directly to the Senior Commissioning Manager, ensuring alignment on all project objectives.
* Monitor and report on the performance of HV systems, identifying and addressing any issues.
* Ensure maintenance and operation procedures are implemented effectively across operational sites.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certified up to 33kV.
* Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
* Extensive experience in high-voltage systems, particularly in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or utility-scale energy infrastructure.
* Strong understanding of high-voltage safety standards and industry best practices.
* Experience managing both commissioning and operation of high-voltage infrastructure.
* Familiarity with UK electrical safety regulations, such as the Grid Code.
* Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., SMSTS/NEBOSH/IOSH).
* Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to assist in a broad range of tasks across commissioning and operational phases.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in the renewable energy or utility-scale energy storage sector.
* Familiarity with SCADA systems and remote monitoring of BESS operations.
* Project management certifications such as PRINCE2 or APM.
