Offer description

Overview

If you are looking for a role where your expertise behind the scenes makes a real difference, this is an exciting opportunity to join our People and Culture Directorate as a Pay and Reward Advisor, leading the delivery of the Council's pay and reward offer and providing professional advice and insights to support the retention of skills and talent. This is an exciting time to be working for the County Council as we prepare for Local Government Reorganisation. The role is full‑time, however the Council supports flexible working requests from day one, so we are open to discussing how different working patterns could be supported.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of key outcomes across the annual pay cycle, including the implementation and communication of pay awards and incremental pay rises, ensuring these important processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and on time. You will collaborate closely with Business Systems, Payroll and the HR Services Team to make sure the right mechanisms are in place to support the Council's approach to pay and reward. You will play an important role in helping the Council meet its statutory pay reporting requirements in relation to pay and reward, providing the coordination and insight needed to support robust, informed decision‑making. You will also take the lead in ensuring our range of employee benefits are well understood and widely utilised, managing relationships with contracted suppliers to ensure value for money and connection with our approach to wellbeing, inclusion and engagement. You will identify ways for continuous improvement and ensure our pay and reward initiatives are transparent, inclusive and fair, while delivering on our organisational needs and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

You will be an experienced HR professional, with understanding and experience of pay and reward approaches, employment policies and systems, and sound knowledge of relevant legislation, with the ability to understand and interpret its implications for us as a large employer. You will have demonstrable project management experience and be confident to take the lead on projects, collaborating with others and building strong working relationships to deliver required outcomes to agreed timescales. This role involves working with large data sets and therefore you will have the digital skills to present, analyse and manipulate data and information for different target audiences. You must have good attention to detail to ensure a high level of accuracy and be confident taking ownership of end‑to‑end processes. You will value diversity, treat others with respect, and take responsibility for your own actions.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self‑organised peer support groups, help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.

Benefits

* A comprehensive wellbeing package to cover all aspects of wellbeing, both in and out of work, which can also be accessed by your family
* Buy up to 4 weeks additional annual leave (pro-rata) through our salary sacrifice scheme
* Take your bank holidays flexibly to better suit your personal circumstances
