Lander Medical Practice, Truro Health Park, Truro, is looking for a part-time Practice Nurse to join our team of Nurses and HCAs for 32 hours per week. We are open to discussing flexibility and job sharing for this role. An ability to provide holiday/sickness cover would also be appreciated. Salary will be based on Agenda for Change Band 5, depending on qualifications and experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake a variety of roles within their scope of professional practice and perform functions listed in the attached job description/specification, within the treatment room setting.
To provide high-quality nursing care to patients within the practice as part of the nursing team and the wider primary healthcare team.

We are a close-knit team of 8 nurses and 5 HCAs working across 2 sites to deliver excellent nursing care to approximately 20,000 patients. We collaborate with the wider surgery team and other healthcare providers and are part of Truro PCN.

Job Title: Treatment Room Nurse

Summary: The post holder will perform a range of professional roles, including clinical duties and patient care, as outlined in the detailed responsibilities below.
Responsibilities include:
* Performing treatment room duties such as injections, suture removal, phlebotomy, and lifestyle advice, under senior staff and GP supervision.
* Following clinical protocols and referring to senior nurses or GPs as needed.
* Managing time effectively and organizing workload efficiently.
* Conducting annual reviews and health promotion activities.
* Documenting consultations in line with NMC guidelines and managing consent.
* Monitoring stock and equipment maintenance.
* Requesting pathology tests and assisting with minor surgeries and clinics.
* Chaperoning and assisting patients during examinations.
* Administering immunizations and vaccinations as per PGDs.
* Administering IM and subcutaneous injections and implants as per PSDs.
* Providing health advice and making referrals to GPs as appropriate.
* Undertaking leg ulcer care, compression bandaging, and Doppler assessments following training.
* Assessing and planning wound care, recognizing deterioration, and arranging reviews.
* Adhering to safeguarding procedures and recognizing signs of child abuse.
* Liaising with the primary care team and other agencies, participating in meetings, and contributing to practice policies.
* Supervising/supporting Nursing Associates and HCAs.
* Completing mandatory training annually and managing emergencies like anaphylaxis and CPR according to UK guidelines.
* Maintaining confidentiality and following data protection policies.
* Participating in audits, CQC compliance, and QOF recalls.
Personal and professional development includes participating in training, performance reviews, and self-directed learning.

Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse on the NMC register
* Minimum 1 year post-registration experience
Experience
* Understanding of the nurse's role in general practice, NMC code, clinical governance, and data protection
* Competent in clinical skills relevant to primary care
* Experience working within a team and in general practice preferred
