We are looking for a qualified Health Care Assistant (9 - 12 hours per week) to join this friendly GP practice and be part of an experienced, motivated and supportive nursing team.
Working 4 hours on alternate Saturday mornings in our extended hours clinic and up to 10 hours on a Thursday each week. Possible ad-hoc additional hours to cover team absence.
Our Healthcare Assistant should have general practice experience and a breath of knowledge.

Main duties of the job
To support the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Job responsibilities
Main clinical duties:
* NHS Health Checks
* Support practice nurses with health promotion programmes
* Support practice nurses with management of chronic disease clinics.
* Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
* ECGrecording
* Basicurinalysis and completion of microbiology forms as necessary.
* Learning Disability Health Checks
* Toassist PNs with data inputting before the diabetic/CHD clinic, e.g., BP,weight, smoking status.
* Memorytesting
* Weightreferrals
* Supporting coil clinics
* Simple wound dressings
* Occasional home visits or care home visits where necessary
* Act as chaperone as required
* Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with guidelines
* Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins are replaced in accordance with IPC policy
* Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
* Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with duty rota.
* Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation
* Support the practice to adhere to infection protection controls.

Qualifications
* *Qualifications appropriate to the role.
* *HCA Care Certificate
* *Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant preferably in Primary Care.
* *Must have own transport and full driving licence as occasional home visits/care home visits will be required.
