About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced
IT Business Analyst
to join a leading London-based university. The role sits within the IT Projects function and focuses on enabling and supporting
IT and systems integration projects
across a complex higher education environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that business needs are fully understood, captured, and translated into effective IT solutions. This includes supporting the implementation of new and enhanced systems, integrations, and processes that underpin the university's teaching, research, and professional services.
Key Responsibilities
* Capture, analyse, document, and prioritise business requirements, particularly in relation to
student and staff-facing systems
.
* Work closely with stakeholders to map and improve processes, ensuring solutions deliver measurable benefits across the university.
* Support the delivery of
systems integration projects
, ensuring technical solutions align with business needs and existing IT architecture.
* Produce clear, user-friendly documentation, specifications, and process maps.
* Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement to inform design, testing, and adoption of IT solutions.
* Contribute to project planning, initiation, and delivery, supporting the IT Project Manager and senior leadership.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
* Strong track record of working as a Business Analyst on
IT systems and integration projects
.
* Experience of producing business process documentation and mapping complex processes.
* Proven ability to gather, record, and prioritise IT functional and non-functional requirements.
* Experience working with stakeholders across a
higher education or similarly complex environment
.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data and requirements into actionable recommendations.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of higher education business processes and systems (e.g. student records, timetabling, finance, HR, or research management).
* Formal training in business analysis tools and methodologies.
* Experience supporting user acceptance testing, training, and change management activities.
* Project management experience.
