A Snapshot of Your Day
As an HVDC Protection Engineer, you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for wind farm grid connections and interconnectors, utilizing a new transient network analysis laboratory in Manchester.
Responsibilities include:
* Preparing quotations, engineering work packages, and supporting commissioning from Manchester to customer handover.
* Developing DC protection concepts for various HVDC applications.
* Conducting protection coordination studies using PSCAD/EMTDC.
* Programming protection and measurement systems in MATLAB/SIMULINK, CFC, and related platforms.
* Performing functional and performance testing, including Model-Based-Testing and Hardware in the Loop.
* Providing customer training, acceptance testing, and contributing lessons learned.
* Supporting research and development, problem-solving, and after-sales services.
Qualifications include:
* Degree in electrical engineering or related field; doctorate preferred.
* Experience in control and protection, especially DC protection for HVDC systems.
* Proficiency in MATLAB/SIMULINK, PSCAD/EMTDC, and software engineering/testing.
* Knowledge of Git, IEC61850, data modeling, and Siemens automation tools is a plus.
* Fluent in English; German language skills are advantageous.
