An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced media professional to provide high-quality media relations support to Croydon Council, in London’s largest borough.
Working in a busy and friendly communications team, you’ll play a key role in protecting and enhancing the council’s reputation through media handling and planned proactive media relations activities.
Reporting to the Media Relations Manager, you’ll be accomplished at working with the local and national media across broadcast, print, and digital platforms, with the ability to think on your feet, prioritize, and make informed decisions.
We’re looking for a wordsmith who can produce accurate and engaging copy for press releases and op-eds, as well as Croydon’s digital channels and print communications. You’ll be adept at social media content creation and know how to tailor messages for various channels and audiences.
You’ll have a proven track record in media and public affairs, with a good understanding of how local, regional, and central government works. As a member of the corporate communications team, you will work with senior officers and politicians and will be expected to use your influencing skills to help convey their messages effectively.
The role requires a nationally-recognized communications qualification (or equivalent) with recent relevant experience. Media law experience is desirable.
