**Contract Experienced Local Government Accountant ** Local Authority experience required **Day Rate**Remote and Hybrid**
Are you based in the UK and an experienced Local Government accountant seeking your next contract? Are you a qualified Accountant with depth of finance knowledge specifically within Local Authorities? Would you like a new challenge as a Interim Consultant where you can support our local authority clients?
We are a specialist Management Consultancy based in Sheffield focusing on ERP digital transformation and technology enabled change within Finance / HR / Payroll / Procurement systems. In addition, we provide accounting support services to Local Authorities covering business partnering and financial accounting. We are working very closely with a number of Local Authorities supporting them as a trusted advisor to successfully deliver the required outcomes in optimising finance systems, in even the most complex of organisational structures. Moore Insight has a deep understanding of the regulatory and statutory reporting landscape for Local Authorities.
Reporting to a Moore Insight Principal Consultant or Project Manager, the work may be a combination of on-site and remote working - depending on the requirements of the Local Authority.
Activities will include:
* Knowledge of balance sheets
* Excellent knowledge of Local Government accounting.
* Strong capability around reconciliations
* Knowledge around financial control frameworks
* Report writing
* Financial analysis
Qualifications
· Qualified Accountant - CIPFA or other recognised professional accounting qualification
Mandatory Experience
* Ideally, experience as a contractor within a Local Authority producing statutory accounts
* Previous business experience working with limited support or unsupervised on client projects.
* Experience as an interim contractor switching between different Local Authorities
* Practical knowledge of accounting best practice.
* Proven experience across a range of finance systems within Local Authorities or other public sector bodies / authorities
* Willingness to go the extra mile to meet critical deadlines.
Technical Skills
· Knowledge of one or more commercial ERP finance systems.
