Senior Residential Care Officer
Doncaster
Grade 8 – £33,708 (depending on experience & qualifications)
Hours
* Full-time: 37 hours per week
* Part-time: 18.5 hours per week
* Contract: Permanent
What This Role Offers
* £35,438 – £39,319 total earnings (including 8.5% allowance)
* Equivalent to £18.37 – £20.37 per hour
* £43.12 per sleep-in shift (~£2,000 annually based on 4/month)
* South Yorkshire Pension Scheme (£5,552 – £6,160 employer contribution)
* Overtime paid at time and a quarter (over 37 hours)
* Rota includes 2 weekends off out of 4
About the Role
We are looking for experienced and motivated Senior Residential Care Officers to join Doncaster’s Children’s Residential Services.
In this key role, you will form part of the senior team, supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager while leading shifts and providing guidance to other staff members. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children and young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality care for children with complex needs and behaviours

* Ensure the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose
* Promote safeguarding and wellbeing at all times
What We’re Looking For
* Level 3 TQUK Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Minimum 12 months’ experience in a children’s residential setting
* Experience supporting young people with complex behaviours
* Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
* Resilience, flexibility, and commitment to high standards of care
* Passion for improving outcomes for children
Training & Development
* Ongoing training including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
* Opportunity to progress to Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification
* Continuous professional development within a growing service
Service Areas
Roles are available across a range of residential settings:
* Homes supporting Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
* Short Break services for children with disabilities and complex needs
* Long-term residential care homes
* New and developing services, including emergency care provision
Rota & Shifts
* Rotating 4-week rota (typically 2 weekends on, 2 off)
* Mix of shifts:
* 7am – 3pm (Mornings)
* 2pm – 10pm (Afternoons)
* Sleep-in shifts included
* Typically 9 days off per 4-week cycle
