Job Summary
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry Community CMHT for Bury Mental Health Services. The post will cover a sector of the Bury area and was created due to a consultant moving to another role. Patients will be seen in community clinics, at their own homes or other clinical settings. The role includes teaching responsibility for medical and nursing staff.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical care to adults aged 16–64 in community settings.
* Consult as part of the Bury general adult psychiatry service, working with sector consultants (East, West and South) and accompanying inpatient areas.
* Deliver education and supervision to medical and nursing staff.
* Participate in on‑call rota, improvement and research activities.
* Maintain high quality care and comply with NHS standards.
* Support service development and audit activities.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) – essential.
* Full GMC registration – essential.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register, or eligible to be added within six months – essential.
* Approved Clinician status or eligibility to achieve within three months – essential.
* Section 12 approval (S12) or ability to achieve within three months – essential.
* Excellent knowledge of adult psychiatry and complex psychological problems – essential.
* MRCPsych or other postgraduate qualification, CCT in General Adult Psychiatry, experience with MHA, writing MHTR reports – desirable.
* Evidence of teaching, CPD registration, communication skills, audit experience, and willingness to participate in on‑call – essential.
* Interest in management, service development, leadership experience, and research – desirable.
Employment Details
Grade: Consultant. Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro‑rata). Contract: Permanent, full‑time. Closing date: 2 July 2026.
