Are you an experienced Maths teacher with a passion for leadership? A School in Essex is looking for an ambitious and inspiring Head of Maths to join their team full-time from September 2025.
This permanent role includes a TLR1C (£12,039), reflecting the responsibility and scope of leading a high-performing core department. You'll oversee curriculum development, assessment, and team management across KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5 - driving excellence in teaching and learning across the faculty.
As Head of Maths, you'll join a committed senior team with a clear focus on raising outcomes and building a culture of ambition. With excellent support from SLT and access to CPD, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to lead a department with strategic impact and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Maths department across all key stages
* Design and implement a curriculum that is ambitious, inclusive, and engaging
* Monitor pupil progress, identify intervention needs, and drive achievement
* Support and mentor teaching staff in pedagogy and professional development
* Oversee assessment strategy, tracking, and data analysis
* Foster a positive learning environment that values effort and excellence
* Collaborate with SLT on whole-school planning and improvement
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Substantial experience teaching Maths at secondary level
* Previous leadership experience or clear readiness for HoD responsibility
* Deep knowledge of Maths curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* A strategic thinker who is passionate about student progress and inclusive learning
