The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald's centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. Role context and responsibilities
The Asset Management and Infrastructure Planning team is one of five sub-sectors within our Water Utilities Division, employing around 350 people across the UK. We work in the water sector and with other infrastructure providers both in the UK and internationally in the following workstream areas:
* Technical assurance of statutory regulatory submissions such as annual performance reporting, business cases and business plans, long term strategic plans, operational performance and deliverables
* Water resource investment planning
* Wastewater and bioresources investment planning
* Strategic asset management and business planning
* Carbon and net zero appraisal and strategic planning
* Integrated systems management
* Data analytics and decision support tools
* Contract’s appraisal (NEC, PPP)
As a Strategic Investment Planning Engineer you will be supporting the delivery of investment plans for our clients, contributing to business development and technical capability. Reporting to the Workstream Lead, you will be an important part of the investment planning team and the wider asset management practice. This is an opportunity to be involved and to champion best-value planning through internal and external communication and industry presence.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Relevant water management, engineering or other related degree
* Experience developing water or wastewater engineering solutions
* Keen interest in developing your technical and commercial skills
* Keen interest feasibility studies, options appraisal and early solution development style infrastructure projects
Desirable
* Working towards or Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Institution
* Familiarity with UK water sector regulation
* Experience with developing regional plans, water company plans (business plans, water resource management plans, drought plans, regional water resource plans, wastewater and drainage plans, sludge strategies)
* Project management, client liaison and consulting skills
* Experience of undertaking options appraisal
* Experience of best value planning
* Experience of auditing and assurance
* Experience of using asset information
* Good report writing and presenting skills
