Applicants are sought for a 6 month locum full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Arthroplasty and Soft Tissue Knee.
The post would involve working at Scunthorpe Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital and Goole Hospital.
The basic job plan would consist of 11.13 PA's with a 1:7 oncall pattern.
Main duties of the job
It is anticipated that the successful candidate would be comfortable to manage acute and chronic soft tissue knee conditions such as multi-ligament injuries, meniscal tears, isolated ligament injuries and patellofemoral instability. The successful candidate would also have an interest in the management and preservation of young adult knee degenerative conditions i.e. cartilage procedures and osteotomy.
Some of these cases are tertiary referrals from neighbouring NHS trust hospitals.
The successful candidate would join one other surgeon who currently undertakes knee and soft tissue knee surgery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a senior employee of the Trust the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality health care to the trusts patients.

1. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
2. Full GMC Registration
3. Undertaken programme of training acceptable to the Royal College of Surgeons for appointment to Consultant Status
4. ATLS or equivalent – Provider Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job, [specialty knowledge exam]. Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need. Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job. Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job.
