Role Overview Working closely with our engineering teams, you will lead the design and implementation of a robust, scalable platform built on React, .NET, GraphQL, Apollo Federation, and hosted in Azure. Key Responsibilities Technical Vision and Leadership Define and document the technical vision, roadmap, and high-level specifications aligned with business goals Act as a trusted technical advisor across engineering teams, leadership, and stakeholders Select appropriate technologies and architectural patterns within the Azure ecosystem Maintain clear records and architectural documentation Technical Design Author detailed designs and blueprints to guide engineering implementation Analyse and document existing legacy systems to inform future planning Lead the Technical Design Authority (TDA) process to ensure alignment with broader IT and business strategies Best Practice Own and maintain the Architectural Repository with high-quality, practical documentation Champion improvements in architectural governance processes Define, monitor, and mentor teams on technical standards and best practices Collaboration and Communication Ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance across our .NET, React, GraphQL, and Apollo Federation stack Collaborate closely with engineers, supporting their implementation of your designs Communicate technical decisions and project progress clearly to a wide range of stakeholders Essential Experience & Skills Strong experience as a software architect or senior engineer with a proven track record of successful architectural design Experience leading technical governance and producing high-quality documentation Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to engage across technical and business audiences Expertise in defining and executing technical strategy and roadmaps Proficiency in building microservices and n-tier architectures using .NET, React, and GraphQL Solid understanding of cloud architecture and Azure services Proficient in at least one backend language (.NET preferred) Desirable Experience Working on legacy code modernisation projects Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, ARM) Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes Exposure to Python for data analysis or automation tasks Your Approach to Work Structured and governance-driven, balancing policy with flexibility Confident in questioning the status quo while bringing people with you Future-focused, innovative, and strategic in problem-solving Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong advocate for continuous improvement and team empowerment Location & Ways of Working This is a remote-first role, with an expectation to attend our office at least monthly to build strong team relationships and collaborate in person.
