This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of contractor delivery and play a key role in improving homes, ensuring safety, and delivering excellent customer outcomes across our property portfolio. About the Role As a Contract Surveyor, you’ll lead on the procurement, management, and performance of contractors, ensuring high-quality repairs, planned works, and investment programmes are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in line with regulatory and compliance requirements, while driving both value for money and social value. Working closely with customers, contractors, and internal teams, you’ll also provide technical expertise, carry out surveys and inspections, and ensure accurate stock condition data is maintained. What You’ll Be Doing Managing procurement and performance of contractors across multiple workstreams Delivering planned, cyclical, and reactive maintenance programmes Carrying out surveys and inspections across a range of housing assets Writing specifications, tender documentation, and managing contracts end-to-end Monitoring budgets, authorising payments, and controlling costs Ensuring compliance with health & safety, statutory, and regulatory requirements Identifying risks, hazards (including HHSRS), and seeing remedial works through to completion Building strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and external partners Supporting continuous improvement and service delivery excellence What We’re Looking For Essential: Strong experience in contract management and property maintenance Knowledge of housing legislation, compliance, and safety standards (e.g. HHSRS, Decent Homes) Experience managing budgets and contractor performance Ability to carry out surveys and interpret technical data Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Flexibility to travel across the North West and occasionally nationally Desirable: HNC/HND in Building Studies, RICS or equivalent experience Experience within social housing Knowledge of stock condition systems and housing asset management tools Why Progress?
