About the role
:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. You’ll play a key role in helping each learner achieve their full potential by providing high-quality, personalised support that promotes academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
Whether working with small groups or providing 1:1 support, your contribution will help create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that enables pupils to thrive. This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to make a genuine difference, every single day.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the teaching and learning of pupils across the school under the guidance of class teachers and the SENCO
2. Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with autism and additional needs
3. Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and learning materials
4. Help maintain a calm, orderly and inclusive classroom environment
5. Support pupils’ social, emotional and physical development, responding to individual needs with care and understanding
6. Participate in a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular activities, including outdoor learning and off-site trips
7. Monitor pupil progress and behaviour, feeding back to teaching staff and contributing to pupil records
8. Encourage positive behaviour, independence and active engagement in learning
9. Support personal care and physical support plans where necessary (full training provided)
10. Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents/carers, and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each pupil
Who we are looking for
We are seeking calm, compassionate and proactive individuals who are committed to supporting pupils with additional needs. You should be adaptable, patient, and ready to work flexibly across different learning environments, both indoors and outdoors.
Essential:
11. Experience in an educational, childcare, or SEN setting
12. Full UK driving licence (essential due to the nature of the role and off-site activities)
13. A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with autism and complex needs
14. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
15. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour
16. A team player with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn
