About the Role
This role provides commercial support for the TRU central portfolio, managing several commercial managers and assistant commercial managers. The portfolio includes diverse projects such as rail depot enhancements, station platform extensions, and upgrades to improve resilience.
Key projects include the Digital programme, valued at circa £500m, focusing on digital technology implementation across the route, and the W2BC programme, valued at circa £1.5bn, aiming to transform the TransPennine main line for more frequent, faster, and greener trains.
Responsibilities
* Manage post-contract commercial activities and support pre-contract activities for frameworks and contracts.
* Oversee commercial management of frameworks, including negotiations, valuation, and progress meetings.
* Lead risk, value management, and cost estimation during project lifecycle.
* Negotiate prices and manage contractual variations and claims.
* Ensure accurate project reporting and variance analysis.
* Lead and resource the commercial team effectively.
* Handle contract changes, contractual notices, and dispute resolution.
* Establish compliance controls and manage project closeouts.
* Support continual improvement in estimating and procurement processes.
Candidate Requirements
* Knowledge of railway and construction industry contracts.
* Degree or equivalent qualification, with professional accreditation.
* Experience in negotiation and dispute resolution in construction.
* At least 5 years’ relevant railway/construction experience.
* Understanding of railway commercial contract management.
Desirable Skills
* Experience managing and developing teams.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience with contractor accounts.
