Requirements
Your role
We are recruiting a Service Designer on a permanent basis. You will be passionate about designing services that help users achieve their goals.
* Research and map current services from the perspectives of customers, product teams, and organizations.
* Run workshops to solve problems, explore solutions, and generate ideas.
* Design user journeys and artifacts such as service blueprints.
* Build prototypes to test solutions and ideas.
* Understand, interpret, and communicate user needs.
* Ensure user needs are central to product development.
Skills We Are Looking For
* Ability to discuss digital products and the GDS Service Standard clearly.
* Understanding how policy or technology constraints influence product development and digital benefits for users.
* Experience supporting user-centered design teams.
* Service design techniques like blueprinting, future blueprinting, rapid ideation.
* Effective presentation and influencing skills for decision makers.
* Workshop planning and facilitation with stakeholders, end users, and service providers.
* Using metrics and user feedback to refine services.
We support skill development through training, mentorship, and experience sharing.
Additional Skills and Behaviors
* Experience working in agile environments.
* Advocacy for accessible, inclusive services.
* Proactive approach to environmental responsibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* Problem-solving skills like sketching, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing.
* Ability to simplify and visualize complex information.
* Experience with design tools like Sketch, Figma, Invision.
* Experience managing story development in tools like VSTS/Azure DevOps.
* Analytical skills for understanding complex financial issues.
This role requires or is open to Security Clearance. Candidates will need to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check before employment is confirmed.
