A chance to join a construction company that specialises in high-end projects in the UK. They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join the finance team within a fast-paced construction environment. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience supporting core accounting functions including purchase ledger, subcontractor ledger, payment runs, cashflow alignment, and month-end processes. This role requires strong organisational skills, accuracy, and the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Process supplier invoices accurately within EQUE2
* Match supplier invoices to purchase orders
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
* Respond to supplier queries in a timely and professional manner
* Monitor and manage the finance inbox, ensuring queries are actioned promptly
* Add and verify subcontractors
* Process subcontractor invoices
* Maintain accurate subcontractor records within EQUE2
* Prepare and create weekly/monthly payment runs
* Assist with bank reconciliations
* Liaise internally to confirm approval of payments prior to release
* Reconciling and submitting VAT & CIS returns
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant role (construction industry preferred)
* Familiarity with EQUE2 construction software - not essential
* Familiarity with Sage accounting software
* Experience preparing payment runs
* Experience processing month-end journals
* Understanding of CIS regulations
* Intermediate Excel skills
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
