Role Summary
Racelogic is a British technology company headquartered in Buckingham, UK, specialising in the design and manufacture of electronic measurement and data systems. Products sold under brands including VBOX Automotive, VBOX Motorsport, and LabSat serve customers in over 100 countries. The business is profitable, privately held, and has been growing for over 30 years.

The Head of Finance is the most senior finance professional in the business, reporting directly to the CEO. The role carries full responsibility for financial control, reporting, and compliance across the UK parent and its overseas subsidiaries. It combines strong technical accounting with a genuine commercial outlook - the right person will be as comfortable discussing a pricing decision or commission scheme as they will be managing a VAT return.

This is a hands-on role. The business does not have a large finance team, so the Head of Finance will be directly involved in the day-to-day operation of the function while also providing the financial leadership and insight that a business of this scale and profitability requires.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
Own the preparation and accuracy of monthly management accounts for the UK and group, including P&L, balance sheet and gross margin analysis.
Maintain robust financial controls and reconciliations across bank, intercompany, stock and balance sheet accounts.
Lead the year-end statutory accounts process and external audit across all entities, coordinating with overseas accountants for the US and German subsidiaries.

Payroll & Employee Finance
Run monthly UK payroll including PAYE/NIC submissions, pensions, benefits in kind and commission calculations.
Oversee local payroll coordination for the US and German subsidiaries to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Tax & Statutory Compliance
Manage UK VAT returns, corporation tax processes (with external advisors), and R&D tax credit preparation.
Ensure Companies House filings and statutory obligations are met across the group.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Analysis
Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts across the group, providing meaningful variance analysis and commentary.
Support commercial decision-making through pricing analysis, margin modelling, commission scheme input and customer credit risk oversight.
Develop KPI reporting and board pack preparation.

Cash, Treasury & Equity
Manage cashflow forecasting, banking relationships and FX exposure across currencies.
Support dividend planning and maintain associated statutory equity documentation.
Inventory & Cost Control
Develop finance's involvement in cost of goods, including standard cost maintenance, stock provisioning and margin visibility at product level.
Work closely with Operations to strengthen inventory ageing analysis and landed cost modelling.

Systems & Team
Own the integrity of financial systems, data and controls.
Identify and drive improvements to financial systems and processes as the business scales.
Manage and develop the finance support team.

About You
Qualifications & Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Significant experience managing a finance function in a UK SME, ideally a manufacturing or product business.
Proven experience with international subsidiaries - US and/or German entities particularly valuable.
Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, payroll, and statutory compliance.
Experience managing year-end audit processes and working with external accountants and advisors.
Familiarity with ERP and accounting systems.

Skills & Approach
Commercial instinct - able to contribute meaningfully to pricing, margin, and business performance discussions, not just report on them.
High level of accuracy and personal integrity in financial reporting and control.
Confident communicator, able to advise and challenge the CEO and senior leadership clearly and directly.
Comfortable in a hands-on environment where the Head of Finance is also an operator.
Organised and self-sufficient - able to manage multiple priorities without close supervision.
Collaborative, straightforward, and effective in a small, high-trust team.
