Research Nurse-Acute and Chronic Conditions Research Team
You will have a key working relationship with the Team Leader, other team members and Clinicians in developing a portfolio of studies. There will be opportunities to work on a variety of studies whilst helping to promote a research active culture within the acute and chronic conditions specialties at ELHT.
We are looking for someone who likes a challenge and can work autonomously when appropriate whilst contributing to the wider team. You should be a good communicator and be confident interfacing with patients & staff at all levels.
Main duties of the job
You will be a registered nurse with current NMC registration, post‑registration experience and interest in acute or chronic conditions with a broad range of nursing and skills. You may also have worked in either acute or chronic care.
You will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and effectively manage your own time to fulfil these key responsibilities whilst also linking in with other team members to enable support for each other.
Job responsibilities
This post will be based within the Acute and Chronic Conditions Research Team (ACC Team), supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively: Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK, Stroke, Diabetes, Dermatology, Cardiology. You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research journey.
The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. The post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites. Research activity is usually Monday to Friday within normal office hours, but may require early starts (7:00 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) to accommodate study schedules. Flexibility is essential and a flexible working policy is in place.
Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse / Registered Nurse Adult (1st Level) with current valid NMC registration
* Evidence of continued professional development
* ICH‑GCP training
* Mentorship qualification or equivalent
Skills
* Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
* High level of organisation and time management skills
* Advanced clinical skills (e.g., ECG)
Knowledge
* Understanding of the research process and application of research in the clinical governance agenda within NHS / Partner organisations
* Competence in standard IT packages
* Ability to integrate nursing knowledge and skills with the research aspects of the job
Experience
* Accuracy of detail in data collection
* Clinical nursing experience in Adult Acute and/or Chronic conditions
* Experience of Clinical Trials
* Experience supervising staff / students
Personal Attributes
* Ability to work autonomously using own initiative while being part of a team
* Initiative-taking, enthusiastic, and able to organise and plan
* Interest in research
* Flexibility & willingness to support other disciplines across the research team & various locations
