Job overview

We are recruiting for a Corporate Governance Officer (Board Committees Secretary), who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This is a permanent full-time five days a week Corporate Governance Officer (Board Committees Secretary) based at Lister Hospital.

You will assist the Board Secretary in delivering Board and Committee secretariat functions to high standards including owning certain Board Committee meetings. This involves the co-ordination of those meetings, preparation of agendas, papers collation and publication, recording of discussions and decisions during the meetings, production of accurate and prompt minutes, actions logs and Board Reports and following up actions.

Working closely with Chairs and Committee members, you will ensure Trust procedures are followed in relation to meeting process and documentation to deliver effective corporate governance and appropriate standards of probity and openness.

Producing high quality formal minutes is a significant element of the role. You will also support governance improvement projects and be expected to work autonomously leading on elements within these projects.

Apart from needing significant experience supporting senior level committees, you will need strong organisational and prioritisation skills, the IT skills to use varied software, excellent attention to detail and a flexible team-working approach.

Main duties of the job

You will provide comprehensive administrative support to certain Board and Executive Committees, and general governance practices. You will also provide governance project support and be expected to lead on elements of governance improvement and maintenance projects and activities autonomously and provide administrative support to non-executive directors.

Essential criteria

* Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
* Evidence of continued personal development.


Desirable criteria

* Evidence of further study in healthcare management or governance.


Previous Experience


Essential criteria

* Significant experience supporting senior level committees, working in a secretariat team and governance functions.
* Minuting formal meetings to a high standard
* Experience of working with Directors and Board Members.
* Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously and completing on time.
* Good keyboard and computer systems skills.
* Ability to take high quality, accurate minutes for Board level meetings.
* Experience of problem solving.
* Proven ability to work without supervision.


Desirable criteria

* Experience in working in corporate governance or secretariat functions in healthcare or other regulated sector.
* Report writing experience.
* Delivering training

Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Computer literate to a high standard with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to confidently use different electronic systems (such as for financial requisitioning, Board papers and Registers of Interest).
* Understanding of the Equal Opportunities Act and how this may apply to the role.
