Responsibilities
* Provide clinical expertise in nursing care for diabetes patients within their specialty.
* Provide specialist advice and support to patients, healthcare professionals, and others.
* Be responsible for own caseload and make autonomous decisions.
* Empower patients to make informed decisions.
* Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date clinical records and other relevant documentation using manual or IT systems.
* Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
* Undertake surveys, audits, research, and development, demonstrating clinical excellence with measurable standards and outcomes.
* Work in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.
* Maintain a portfolio of relevant, up‑to‑date evidence of clinical practice within the specialist field.
* Use clinical supervision and peer group support to underpin personal professional development.
* Take responsibility for driving the personal annual appraisal process and annual job planning process.
* Provide expert clinical nursing, education and advice in all aspects of the specialty.
* Facilitate improvement in the quality of health and outcomes of care to this client group.
* Act as a source of expertise and knowledge for patients, carers and health professionals.
* Work with MDT both in hospital and the community.
* Support ongoing improvement of the quality of services and safeguard high standards of care.
