Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
* Please note that full training will be given in each area of your role and you will always work with an experienced colleague
* To meet and greet patients, relatives, carers and visitors to the practice in a friendly and courteous manner
* Telephone triage patients who require an appointment with the doctor
* Respond to requests for assistance and direct enquiries as appropriate
* Ensure that patients without appointments but who need an urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
* Assist with the registration of new patients
* Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payments and issue receipts
* Action requests for ambulance transportation
* Ensure the reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
* Ensure that consultation rooms are prepared for each session, forms restocked etc and left tidy and secure at the end of the session
* Deal with both incoming and outgoing correspondence
* Action repeat prescription requests to ensure they are ready for collection within 48 hours
* Taking patient requests for appointments and rescheduling cancellations on the computerised system
* Retrieval of filing of records as required
* Ensuring letters, test results, reports and other correspondence are filed accurately
* Routine administration including photocopying, faxing, scanning, replenishing of stationery and ensuring computer and office equipment remains in good working order

Training schedule
Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
* We host supporting workshops regularly throughout the apprenticeship, which you will attend in person at our designated training site/campus
* These workshops are carefully designed to support the learning required throughout the apprenticeship programme
* You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession
* You will experience a blended learning model

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
* English (grade A-C/4-9)
* Maths (grade A-C/4-9)
