 
        
        This role of Manufacturing Operator is based at Bathford Paper Mill, where paper has been made for over 200 years. The Paper Machine was converted to a cylinder mould machine in 1973 which still runs today. Within this role, you will gain a variety of task-based skills throughout the production process based within different areas of the paper mill. Due to the variation of the job tasks, this role also enhances interpersonal skills.
The starting salary is from £33,171.72 whilst initial training takes place. This then rises to £34,250.72 when the probation period is confirmed. Once competent in the role, the salary will rise to £37, 312.52 and on completing the competency matrix, the rate of pay will go to £40,116.76
Job Purpose:
Our Manufacturing Operators may be based in stock preparation to control and operate the refining machinery which is the very start of the paper journey. Our Manufacturing Operators may be based in papermaking, to operate the Paper Machine, which is the heart of the business, or, our Manufacturing Operators may be based in our quality control laboratory to test the paper ensuring it meets all of our customer’s independent requirements.
This needs to be done in line with all associated quality and control systems safely whilst in line with our Environmental policy and procedures.
This is a shift position, based on a continuous annualised shift pattern.
In this role, the Manufacturing Operator is also responsible for:
 1. Operating as part of a team to ensure the operational KPI’s are achieved for the shift.
 2. Ensuring that operation of equipment required for the role is carried out in accordance with the mills Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
 3. Ensuring that the quality requirements for the tasks undertaken are met.
 4. Measuring, monitoring and reviewing the machine performance so that deviation from specification can be prevented and corrected.
 5. Playing a proactive part in improving the efficiency of the paper machine and all associated equipment and operations.
Once suitably qualified, you may have the opportunity to train and mentor other people in the above processes.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
