Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor Sector: Civil Engineering Environment AgencyLocation: Barnsley, South Yorkshire Make an Impact in Sustainable Infrastructure We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our engineering team delivering Environment Agency civil engineering projects across South Yorkshire. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of schemes under the Asset Operation, Maintenance, Response (AOMR) Framework, contributing to flood resilience, environmental protection, and infrastructure renewal. Your Role As a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in the commercial success of our Environment Agency projects. You’ll support Commercial Managers and operational teams in managing multiple civil engineering schemes, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance, and value delivery. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and submit applications for payment and final accounts Ensure timely receipt of payments aligned with contract terms Support tendering and estimating processes Produce weekly cost/value reports and monthly reconciliations Manage subcontractor procurement and final accounts Provide commercial support to site teams and procurement functions Prepare documentation for variations, claims, and additional payments Mentor and support trainee/apprentice Quantity Surveyors Liaise with clients on all commercial matters What You’ll Bring Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience Membership of RICS, ICES, or similar (or working towards) Experience in civil engineering contracting (rail or water sector beneficial) Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge Proficiency in MS Office and relevant commercial tools Excellent communication and collaboration skills What We Offer Competitive annual salary negotiable dependant on experience Company Car or Car Allowance 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service) Company contributory Pension scheme Life Insurance Westfield Health Cash Plan & Westfield Rewards Support and employee infrastructure embedded in the business as a platform for personal and professional development creating pathways for unrivalled career development and progression opportunities internally.
