Bradford District and Craven Mind is a thriving, independent mental health charity dedicated to promoting positive mental wellbeing and supporting people to recover and achieve fulfillment.
This training role sits within the CYP IAPT programme and combines academic study with supervised practice. The post holder will work as part of our CYP team, providing evidence‑based support to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties, while developing the knowledge, skills and values necessary to work effectively in an inclusive, values‑driven service.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, evidence‑based support that improves mental health and wellbeing for children and young people.
- Involve children, young people and families in planning support, build confidence in self‑management, and work towards goals that matter to them.
- Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns early, escalating appropriately in line with policy.
- Maintain a well‑managed caseload with coordinated, responsive care and effective communication across families, colleagues and partner agencies.
- Engage in safe, reflective practice through consistent clinical and case‑management supervision.
- Keep accurate, timely and secure records supporting high‑quality care, good governance and service improvement.
- Experience continued professional development through reflection, supervision and appraisal.
- Carry out additional duties flexibly to support the delivery of the role and broader service objectives.
Qualifications:
- Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate level (Level 6).
- Level 4 qualification obtained at minimum OR an equivalent academic record of previous learning/formal study in Child Development, Wellbeing or Mental Health.
- Evidence of numeracy skills.

Experience:
- Experience working with children and/or young people.
- Experience working with children and/or young people with mental health difficulties.
- Experience in mental health or related services.
- Experience in a role with agreed targets to demonstrate outcomes.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to apply training learning effectively in practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone and internet‑mediated communication.
- Ability to develop rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent organisational and self‑management skills.
- Training in or experience of performing risk assessments.
- Fluency in languages other than English.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the district.
Knowledge:
- Child and adolescent development.
- The role of family in supporting children and young people’s emotional wellbeing.
- The systems and contexts in which children and young people live.
- Common mental health problems experienced by children and young people.
- Importance of using evidence‑based interventions.
- Importance of collecting feedback from children, young people and parents.
