Position Overview:
Portsmouth Chevrolet is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory & Lot Manager to take full ownership of used and new vehicle inventory processes. This role is responsible for organizing the dealership lot, managing wholesale operations, and ensuring all vehicles are front-line ready within 10 days. The ideal candidate will work closely with leadership, especially our logistics team, and coordinate across departments and vendors to streamline inventory flow and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lot Organization: Maintain an orderly, professional layout of all vehicles on the dealership lot to maximize visual appeal and accessibility.
* Inventory Flow: Ensure all new and used vehicles are stocked in properly with appropriate key tags and inventory labels.
* Vehicle Turnaround: Guarantee all used vehicles are reconditioned, UCC completed, and front-line ready within 10 days of arrival.
* Service Department Coordination: Secure keys from service, monitor reconditioning status, and move vehicles efficiently through the recon process.
* Recon Management: Manage the reconditioning pipeline including mechanical, detailing, and cosmetic work to meet readiness timelines.
* Wholesale Management: Identify, track, and coordinate transport of wholesale vehicles as needed.
* Vendor Relations: Work directly with external vendors including body shops, transport companies, and detailers to maintain vehicle flow and quality.
* Online Listings: Review and update used car descriptions to ensure all online listings accurately reflect vehicle features, trim levels, and conditions.
* Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with the Portsmouth Chevrolet team to manage overall inventory including transfers to and from body shops, service, and third-party vendors.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience in automotive inventory, lot management, or reconditioning .
* Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with internal teams and outside vendors.
* Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) and inventory software is a plus.
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
