Overview
We are looking for 1 dynamic and motivated individual to join our Rheumatology Department at Tameside. The hospital team currently consists of 4 consultants, with an expanding specialist pharmacy and nursing team. The department has strong links with the University of Manchester, other Rheumatology centres within the North West Deanery, and Primary Care colleagues locally. This post offers exposure to a variety of clinical settings and the opportunity to contribute to an integrated model of health care within an ambitious Trust that is transforming how care is delivered.
The Rheumatology team has led key service transformations including implementing Model A (DMARD) hospital transition, developing an Early Arthritis Pathway, Giant Cell Arteritis Pathway, and initiating a Fracture Liaison Service. The ambition is to continue expanding the Rheumatology workforce throughout 2025 with the addition of a Consultant post.
Responsibilities
* Provide consultant-level clinical care in Rheumatology within the Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
* Assist in optimising pathways and enhance services for the local community.
* Link with tertiary centres and participate in junior doctor training and research where appropriate.
* Drive service improvements and promote best practice in the management of rheumatological diseases, including inpatient admissions and outpatient clinics.
* Manage the workload of the Rheumatology Department.
* Work within a 10 Programmed Activity (PA) job plan; part-time or flexible working (e.g. weekends and evenings) will be considered. Specialist interests (such as research) will be considered for the right candidate.
Qualifications and Requirements
* On the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council or in receipt of the Certificate of Specialist Training (CCT) within six months of the date of interview.
