Retained Search Appointment
We are delighted to have been retained by OneRen to support the appointment of a new Independent Director with strong financial, audit, and governance expertise.
This is a high-calibre, board-level role suited to a qualified accountant and/or an individual with a wealth of experience in finance, audit or risk, who wants to apply their judgement and independence in a setting where it will genuinely influence strategy, sustainability and public value.
The Organisation
OneRen is one of Scotland’s most ambitious cultural and leisure charities, delivering services to around 3 million customers each year across libraries, museums, leisure facilities and community venues. The organisation is entering a defining period, including the delivery of Scotland’s largest cultural heritage project, the reopening of the Paisley Museum Reimagined, alongside a broader programme of commercial growth and long-term financial sustainability.
The Board is active, engaged and strategically focused, with a clear appetite for strong financial insight, challenge and stewardship.
The Opportunity
This is a true non-executive role. There is no operational responsibility, but your influence at board level will be significant.
As an Independent Director, you will:
Apply your financial judgement, audit insight and risk expertise to strategic decision-making
Help shape OneRen’s long-term financial sustainability and commercial resilience
Provide constructive challenge and assurance in a complex, public-facing environment
Contribute to governance during a major capital investment and cultural regeneration programme
Act as a steward of public funds, charitable assets and community trust
For the right individual, this opportunity provides:
Meaningful board and governance experience in a high-profile organisation
A chance to apply financial expertise where it has real, visible community impact
Strengthening of non-executive and portfolio board credentials
Exposure to public sector, charitable and cultural governance
Who We Are Looking For
Qualified accountants / retired accountants
Senior finance leaders, audit partners or those with deep experience in finance, audit, risk or governance
Individuals motivated by purpose, public value and cultural impact
Professionals seeking a credible, well-supported non-executive appointment
Public sector or charity experience is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is sound judgement, strategic perspective and the confidence to challenge appropriately.
