Job Description:
Overview: The Senior Finance Business Partner provides strategic financial expertise on high-value infrastructure projects, partnering with senior stakeholders to guide investment decisions aligned with long-term business goals. The ideal candidate has strong financial modelling skills, stakeholder management experience, and knowledge of project governance in dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead financial partner for major investment projects, offering strategic insights throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Develop and review investment business cases, ensuring financial robustness and strategic alignment.
3. Create and manage financial models, scenario analyses, and sensitivity tests to aid decision-making.
4. Monitor project financial performance, highlighting risks, variances, and opportunities.
5. Collaborate with project teams to ensure financial controls and governance are maintained.
6. Prepare investment proposals and present to senior leadership and boards.
7. Provide analysis on capital spend, ROI, NPV/IRR, and KPIs.
8. Support post-investment reviews to evaluate benefits and lessons learned.
9. Promote financial discipline and value-driven thinking across teams.
10. Ensure data quality within finance systems and develop necessary controls.
Required Skills:
1. Minimum 4 years PQE with relevant experience.
2. Proven finance business partnering experience, especially with large-scale capital projects.
3. Expertise in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
4. Ability to influence senior stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Strong commercial acumen and strategic insight.
7. Experience in infrastructure, utilities, real estate, engineering, or construction sectors.
8. Knowledge of investment appraisal techniques (IRR, NPV, payback).
9. Familiarity with project management methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile, PMO).
10. Detail-oriented with an analytical mindset.
11. Examples of challenging the status quo and leading cost reduction initiatives.
12. Willingness to use BI tools like Power BI for data analysis and decision support.
13. Tenacious, reliable, and adaptable work attitude.
