We are looking for an interim Head of Talent Development (Maternity Cover) to lead our Talent Development agenda - managing and delivering initiatives to continually improve capability across all levels of our organization. You will have direct line management for a Senior Talent Development Partner, and together you will be responsible for delivering a range of stretching leadership, management, individual and team development programmes and initiatives. As an expert in your field, you will play a pivotal part in turning Houseful’s ambitious growth plans into a reality.
Key responsibilities
1. Work across our business and with senior stakeholders to have a deep understanding of our strategic priorities, ensuring our Talent Development offering is focused on the skills and behaviours our people need to drive commercial success
2. Direct line management responsibility for a Senior Talent Development Partner
3. Operate as a key member of the People Leadership Team, regularly contributing to the development of the function’s overall strategy and its implementation
4. Hold strong relationships with our Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, evolving the Talent Development offering where needed to continually ensure the business meets its ambitious commercial objectives
5. Play a pivotal role in ensuring we are driving and enabling a culture of healthy high performance across the business - helping leaders to set clear expectations around performance and ensuring our people are working on the most impactful priorities
6. In partnership with the Senior Talent Development Partner, lead the design, delivery and evaluation of our Talent Development Programmes. With sole responsibility for any Executive Team and Senior Leadership work, and a newly introduced Senior Leadership Programme
7. Continue to strengthen capability, mindset and behaviours across our leadership cohorts, to boost our succession bench, retain and develop our talent, and to drive a culture of healthy high performance, psychological safety, accountability and collaboration across our business.
8. Work with the People Partnering Team to introduce a simple, efficient and effective way to succession plan for our most critical roles. Alongside this, identify and manage the relevant support needed to prepare an identified diverse pipeline of employees for future senior leadership roles
9. Work closely with the Chief People Officer and the Executive Team to challenge thinking and introduce fresh and relevant ways to deliver quality learning and development solutions across the business
10. To manage the Talent Development budget, maintaining an emphasis on internal delivery with the strategic use of external partners.
Requirements
Essential skills
11. A senior talent development expert, with a track record of working in a demanding, fast-paced nimble environment
12. Evidence of highly-developed commercial acumen, and an ability to engage and link talent development to the business agenda
13. Proven stakeholder management, relationship and influencing skills to engage all employees, particularly senior leadership teams
14. Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to balance strategic and operational capability, always putting what is right for the business first
15. Strong design and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of the business
16. Experience of leading or being directly involved with talent management initiatives, such as succession planning
17. Qualified and accredited in a range of psychometric tools (particularly Insights Discovery) would be advantageous

19. Strong commercial nous, a sense of pragmatism and a team-based approach to reflect the way the Houseful People Team operates
20. To be comfortable with change and working in a nimble environment, ready and comfortable to adapt where needed
21. The ability to operate as part of a senior team within a business of rapid transformation and growth
22. The necessary gravitas, interpersonal skills and commercial insight to challenge and influence at Executive level
23. Strategically able, but agile and pragmatic with a strong delivery mentality
24. Confident and diplomatic, with first class influencing skills and strong relationship management capability
