Our client is seeking a dynamic Finance Director to oversee financial operations and contribute to strategic decision-making for a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Operations Mastery: Oversee daily financial activities including cashflow management, accounts payable/receivable, cashbook, journals, VAT, and CIS
* Strategic Financial Planning: Develop long-term financial strategies to support business growth. Analyze performance and risks to drive informed financial planning.
* Reporting Accuracy: Ensure timely and precise financial reporting for both monthly management and yearly statutory accounts. Implement financial checks and robust internal controls to safeguard the organization.
* Budgeting Leadership: Lead the budgeting process, track performance against KPIs, and provide insightful financial analysis to inform business decisions. Prepare a yearly business plan for approval by the Hive board and Investment board.
* Cashflow Management: Maintain optimal cashflow levels, driving sales and development to ensure accurate reporting and financial stability.
* Audit Compliance: Ensure full compliance with audit, accounting, and tax regulations while effectively managing relationships with auditors.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Attend weekly build/sales meetings, monthly cost reviews, and quarterly investor board meetings. Partner with key stakeholders across multiple business units.
* Fundraising Strategy Development: Drive the corporate fundraising strategy and manage relationships with partners and investors.
* System Improvements: Champion system enhancements and implementation, ensuring adherence to robust policies and procedures. Set up and oversee the organization’s finance IT systems.
To be successful, you must have the following:
* Proven experience as a Finance Director, Head of Finance, or senior finance leader within construction, housebuilding, property development, or a similar project‑based environment.
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified - may consider QBE
* Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, VAT, CIS, and audit processes.
* Demonstrable experience leading finance functions and overseeing end‑to‑end financial operations.
* Strategic mindset with the ability to drive financial planning and business performance.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior boards and investors.
* Experience improving or implementing finance systems and processes.
* Ability to balance hands‑on operational finance with strategic leadership—comfortable in an SME or fast‑paced environment.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting development, sales, or project-led teams.
