About the role:

1. Understand and fully utilise Woodland Logistics operating systems to the benefit of the operation.
2. Ensure the successful supervision and communication of work allocation at the site, making any necessary changes with Service and Cost at the forefront.
3. Assist the central transport team with contract-wide operational matters as requirement by management and deal appropriately with ad-hoc transport requests or issues received.
4. Work with management and the transport team to ensure that any service delivery concerns or failures are identified and addressed as most appropriate;
5. Understand customer operational requirements and ensure that the correct procedures are followed at the site to meet these, exceeding expectations wherever possible.
6. Work with management to ensure the site needs are consistently met by the central transport management team.
7. Engage with the customers as appropriate and as required by management to ensure maximum operational satisfaction and performance.
8. Ensure consistently effective communication with management and the transport team in all matters, to promote a successful operation.
9. Ensure correct PDA use by reporting drivers, including status reporting and signature capture reporting.
10. Ensure the successful management of driver daily workflow and the daily driver debrief process.
11. Ensure correct maintenance of operational reports as required by management.
12. Ensure that all transport documentation is managed and stored in an accurate, orderly and legally compliant manner.
13. Assist in the successful control of vehicle maintenance and service requirements, ensuring a consistently road-worthy fleet.
14. Seek to understand and address day-to-day operational concerns within the driver fleet and transport team wherever possible to encourage a satisfied and operationally-sound workforce.
15. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all legislation that is relevant to the transport industry and work in accordance with this.
16. Understand the Operating License obligations and work with management to ensure that these are met.
17. Highlight any concerns in this regard to management without delay.
18. Understand and consistently promote Company policy and procedure including that relating to health and safety; and
19. Work on ad-hoc and contract specific projects as required by management.
20. Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
21. Work with the operations team to continually improve processes and business performance.
22. Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward; and
23. Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly.

Personal Specification

24. Experience in a similar role within the logistics or fleet management industry.
25. Resilient, process-driven, self-starter who can work under pressure and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
26. You have the ability to work thoroughly, methodically with an excellent attention to detail;
27. You can work collaboratively with other members of the team as well as key stakeholders across the group;
28. You have the natural ability and enjoy building and maintaining strong working relationships;
29. You excel with a team environment as well as being able to work autonomously when required;
30. You are flexible, adaptable, and open minded and respond well to the ever-changing priorities and challenges while remaining calm and focussed on getting the job done;
31. You are proactive looking at ways to improve processes and have the initiative to put them forward and where possible into practice;
32. You actively seek ways to enhance your knowledge and improve your performance; and
33. You are self-motivated, have huge drive and ambition – you thrive off achieving great success and helping to build a great place to work!
