Family Support & Intervention Worker – Domestic Abuse Services
Location: London (multiple refuge sites)
Hourly Rate: PAYE £15.78 | Umbrella £19.91
Contract Type: Full-time (39 hours per week, flexible working pattern)
About Sanctuary Personnel:
Sanctuary Personnel is a trusted provider of qualified professionals across health, social care, and community services. We’re currently seeking a compassionate and resilient Family Support & Intervention Worker to join a specialist team delivering life-changing support to women and families affected by domestic abuse across London.
Role Overview:
You will play a vital role in supporting women with complex needs who have recently fled domestic abuse and are living in temporary refuge accommodation. Working across several London-based refuges, you will provide tailored case management, emotional support, and practical interventions to help individuals regain control, build confidence, and move toward independence.
This is a dynamic, trauma-informed role that requires strong interpersonal skills, experience of working with vulnerable families, and the ability to build partnerships with external services including housing, health, and safeguarding teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to women with multiple needs, including mental health issues, substance use, or housing insecurity.
* Work in partnership with refuge staff and multi-agency teams to develop personalised support and safety plans.
* Assess risk using appropriate tools (e.g., DASH) and make referrals to MARAC and other safeguarding forums.
* Coordinate casework across multiple sites, ensuring consistent support and positive outcomes.
* Support service users to access mental health treatment, substance misuse recovery services, and income-related support.
* Organise and lead group wellbeing and empowerment activities across the refuges.
* Promote independence through life skills coaching – budgeting, cooking, managing tenancy responsibilities, etc.
* Guide women through housing applications, move-on plans, and grant processes for resettlement.
* Accurately record case notes and activity logs using internal systems in line with GDPR and data protection policies.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience supporting vulnerable women and/or families within a refuge, housing, or community setting.
* Strong understanding of domestic abuse dynamics and trauma-informed practice.
* Confidence in handling safeguarding concerns and working within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Knowledge of housing legislation, welfare benefits, and social care pathways.
* Ability to work independently across various sites and adapt to changing service user needs.
* Resilience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
* Relevant qualifications such as IDVA, ISVA, or similar domestic abuse-related training.
* Background in family support, mental health, or substance misuse services.
