Senior Bid Coordinator/Writer | Well respected main contractor | Hertfordshire | £55K+ package
Overview
Well-established and financially secure £60m turnover main building contractor that undertake construction, refurbishment and fit- out projects within the education, higher education / further education, healthcare, commercial and community sectors.
Projects typically range between £500k to £15m throughout London and surrounding Home Counties.
Roles & Responsibilities
A key role within the Work Winning team, based at our head office in Hertfordshire, reporting to the Bid Manager, responsible for the business's bid function.
You will join our successful pre-construction team in writing/coordinating technical bid responses, producing high-quality proposals for PQQs, Tenders and Framework Agreements.
Working closely with operational, commercial and technical teams, the role supports successful delivery of compelling bids, ensuring all tender documentation is complete, professionally presented, compliant, timely and aligned with the strategic objectives of the business.
You will need to be an articulate individual and confident writer, with a track record of producing successful, professional and creative bid proposals.
Key Duties
Bid Coordination
* Organise and lead tender 'Launch Meetings'
* Coordinate the end‐to‐end bid process, including initial tender review, bid planning, coordination of inputs and submission.
* Develop bid schedules, action plans and document trackers to ensure all deliverables are completed within deadlines.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders (estimators, planners, design managers, commercial teams, directors) to gather required information.
* Manage clarification questions, submission portals and all associated client correspondence.
* Ensure bids comply with all client instructions, formatting requirements, and submission protocols.
Bid Writing & Content Development
* Produce clear, compelling, relevant and tailored written responses for PQQs, ITTs and tender quality submissions.
* Translate technical information into engaging, client‐focused narrative.
* Edit, proofread and format responses to ensure relevancy, accuracy, clarity and consistency.
* Maintain and develop the company's content library, including case studies, CVs, project sheets, and standard responses.
* Work with subject matter experts to develop new content that reflects innovations, methodologies and best practice.
Document Production & Presentation
* Ensure all bid documents are professionally formatted, accurate and visually consistent with brand guidelines.
* Coordinate graphic elements, diagrams and supporting documents with the design/marketing team where required.
* Produce final tender submissions in the required file formats, whether digital or hard-copy.
* Produce interview presentations (where required).
Key Skills Required
Strong organisational, planning, written/verbal communication and administrative skills to manage and produce multiple technical bids at any one time.
Ability to:
* Nurture positive relationships with technical leads and support staff.
* Organise and lead meetings.
* Provide excellent administration.
* Manage multiple portals.
* Work to tight deadlines.
* Draft, edit and refine high-quality, client-focused written content.
* Produce/update tailored CV's, Case Studies and organograms
* Research key client strategy, drivers and goals.
* Read and understand Clients technical project documentation.
* Ensure all bids meet compliance and formatting requirements.
* Obtain and review bid feedback for continuous improvement.
* Prepare supplementary presentations for tender Interviews.
* Incorporate lessons learnt into future submissions.
Experience/Qualifications
Minimum 2 - 4 years writing/coordination experience in construction sector of preparing and submitting quality submission.
Desirable
APMP Qualification/Industry-Related Qualification/Degree or equivalent.
Key Competencies
* Excellent Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Working knowledge/familiarity/ with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
* Excellent proof reading, formatting and publishing skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Experience of coordinating internal stakeholders to develop technical, bespoke tender responses.
* Ability/Experience of researching information to support tender writing/understand client drivers.
* Proven team worker with 'Can Do' attitude.
* Ability to work calmly and quickly under pressure to tight deadlines.
* Proactive approach to problem solving.
* Excellent time management skills to meet tender deadlines and deal with clarifications.
* Proactive attitude/initiative to add value at pre-construction stage, reviewing 'opportunities' on completed projects, for example social value, innovation and social media stories to promote.
