Role overview: This role sits within the Financial Services Improvement (FSI) practice at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) in London. Purpose Of The Role
An opportunity exists for an Insurance / Asset Management / Wealth Management professional at Senior Director level based in our London office. The successful hire will address the sector challenges through designing solutions, conducting strategic reviews or business diagnostics, and delivering change programmes that address critical issues. The appointee will work with our existing team to build the Firm’s profile in Performance Improvement (PI) with a route to market into Financial Services across Europe. The candidate will bring extensive operational and advisory experience within the Financial Services sector and support the development and execution of the A&M PI strategy for key clients and distinctive go-to-market propositions.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively supporting the development of a robust plan to generate deal flow and sustain repeat business;
* Acting as a delivery Senior Director for PI services to Insurance / Asset Management / Wealth Management industries, and as a potential market maker;
* Leading rapid diagnostic and strategic transformation programmes that improve today’s business and enable the business of tomorrow;
* Working closely with A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) team to apply a data-driven, PE-lens approach to project delivery;
* Coordinating with the broader European FS A&M team, developing a joined-up go-to-market plan, leading international project teams, and building the brand;
* Advising clients on problem areas and recommending solutions with technical insight;
* Engaging with senior client stakeholders and professionals from leading financial institutions;
* Leading initiatives within the broader EMEA Performance Improvement team to embed A&M culture and values, including mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Requirements For This Position
The preferred candidate is action‑oriented and entrepreneurial, able to work independently or as part of a high‑performing team, and capable of leveraging a network of contacts with a track record of executing complex PI projects.
Specifically, The Successful Candidate Will Have
* Successful track record within a well‑established consulting business – top‑tier strategy firm, leading specialist/advisory firm, or “Big 4” consultancy;
* Established leadership experience within the above advisory background;
* Demonstrable experience in strategic and complex change delivery within the market, including rapid strategic programmes for FS clients (cost reduction diagnostics, operational due diligence, revenue enhancement, digital transformation and/or post‑merger synergy work);
* Expert exposure to the Insurance / Asset Management / Wealth Management space from a Performance Improvement angle and a relevant market network;
* Track record of converting business contacts and leads into sustainable, profitable revenue streams;
* Experience in managing teams and working across multiple UK and international locations, including third‑party and in‑house teams;
* Fluency in English (verbal and written). Additional European language skills desirable;
* At least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
