Offer description

The post holder will maintain the Laboratory Information Service on a daily basis, allowing the service users access to accurate and updated patient care test results. The state registered Health Care Scientist is required to train and demonstrate methodologies on complex analytical equipment to medical staff, Clinical Scientists, other BMS staff, new entrant staff, students and medical laboratory assistants (MLA). We are seeking an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with experience of working as an independent practitioner, with skills in Clinical Biochemistry, and who is able to perform a range of analyses in Automation and Specimen Reception Services. We will also welcome applications from graduates who have completed an IBMS accredited biomedical sciences degree and started their registration portfolio.

Responsibilities:

* Fault find equipment and analyser function after formal in-house training
* Manage own work and day-to-day routine work in specialised services. Responsible for processing both urgent and routine work to maintain routine turnaround times in line with Trust and Service policies
* Answer telephone inquiries from pathology users, patients and patient carers about test results and provide information that is complex about methodologies and service requirements
