Experienced Civil Design Engineer (Contract)
Location: Flexible - Offices available in Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, or Birmingham
Contract Type: 6-month temporary contract (potential for extension)
Engagement: PAYE - 37.5 hours per week - Hybrid working (minimum 3 days office-based)

An established, global engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their growing Buildings Design Practice on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of technically challenging building-related infrastructure projects across the UK and overseas.
You'll be joining a multi-disciplinary team known for delivering high-quality, complex projects in sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial, and public realm. The role is open to candidates based anywhere within reach of one of the consultancy's regional offices and offers flexible hybrid working.
The Role
You will support the delivery of small to medium-scale infrastructure schemes within the built environment. The focus will be on drainage, utilities, pavement design, and site development work for new and existing buildings.
This is a great opportunity for a civil engineer looking to broaden their experience and work on diverse and challenging design projects.
Responsibilities
Production of detailed civil engineering designs in line with relevant UK standards and codes
Drainage design (using InfoDrainage or Flow software)
Road and car park layout and design using Civil 3D
Earthworks and levels design for building developments
Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in a BIM environment
Ensuring compliance with quality and technical assurance procedures
Managing workload independently and meeting project deadlines
Key Requirements
Degree (or HND) in Civil Engineering or similar discipline
Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
Experience working on building-related infrastructure projects (not major highways or rail)
Working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD
Proficient in drainage design software (InfoDrainage, Flow, or similar)
Strong communication and report-writing skills
Working towards chartership with the ICE
Eligibility for SC clearance (desirable)
Full UK driving licence (preferred)
Desirable Experience
Familiarity with statutory approvals processes
Previous experience on small- to medium-sized buildings projects (schools, hospitals, offices, leisure facilities, etc.)
Revit or BIM 360 experience
Able to manage own workload with minimal supervision
Chartered status (ICE) preferred but not essential
