Post No. POSN005085 Community Information Officer We're looking for a Community Information Officer to join the Newport Youth Academy (NYA) - a vibrant, inclusive space dedicated to empowering young people and connecting them with opportunities that shape their futures. About the role As a Community Information Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting young people to access the information, advice, and services they need to succeed. Working at the heart of the NYA, you'll help create a welcoming, safe and engaging environment that responds to the needs of the local community. You will: - Provide information, advice, and guidance to young people (pre- and post-16) to support education, training, and employment pathways - Support individuals through initial assessments and referrals - Build and maintain strong community and partner networks - Promote and facilitate activities within the Academy, helping ensure a busy and engaging programme of services - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local opportunities, services, and support networks - Support the day-to-day running of the building, including health & safety responsibilities - Work collaboratively with internal teams including business support, marketing, and finance About you We're looking for someone who is: - Passionate about supporting young people and diverse communities - Experienced in community, education, or support settings - Skilled in providing information, advice and guidance - A confident communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills - Comfortable working with data, systems and record-keeping - Committed to safeguarding, equality, and anti-discriminatory practice You'll also have: - A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) - Experience working with vulnerable individuals and community groups - An understanding of safeguarding and health & safety requirements - Welsh language skills are desirable, and support will be provided to develop these.
