Occupational Therapist (Band 5) – The Orchard Clinic
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the medium secure Forensic Mental Health service based at the Orchard Clinic, Royal Edinburgh Hospital. Working with adults with complex forensic mental health needs in an in‑patient setting you will contribute to assessment, occupational formulation, positive risk taking and rehabilitation to support the individual through the medium secure forensic pathway. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will have opportunities to develop your skills in clinical decision‑making, group work and prioritising needs. Occupational Therapy leadership is embedded in the team, providing ongoing profession‑specific support to enable you to deliver a high‑quality and person‑centred occupational therapy service.
Responsibilities
You will provide occupational therapy assessment and care plans for patients, support rehabilitation activities, facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings, and contribute to positive risk management and safety planning.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working.
* Enthusiastic team player, able to motivate others and work independently.
* Passionate advocate for the value of occupational therapy as a crucial element of recovery.
* Relevant professional registration as an Occupational Therapist (Band 5).
* Must hold a PVG Scheme membership or record; if not currently a member, disclosure to Disclosure Scotland is required and the role is considered regulated.
* Legal requirement to have permission to work in the United Kingdom.
Additional Information
* From 1 April 2026, the full‑time Agenda for Change working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate; part‑time hours will be pro‑rata.
* Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the post may require a different level of criminal records check than currently required; confirmation will be provided by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
* The post is part‑time; salary will be pro‑rata.
