💷 £22.40 per hour (PAYE)/£29.75 an hour UMB
🚐 Full UK Driving Licence Required
Newham Council is seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to join their team on an initial 12‑month contract. This is a fully site‑based role, working across a variety of council properties within the borough. PAT testing experience is highly desirable.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
Electrical Inspection & Testing
Perform inspection and testing of electrical appliances within council properties
Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) following the IET Code of Practice and BS7671
Conduct visual checks prior to testing
Use calibrated PAT testing equipment to complete full test cycles
Correctly label all appliances and accurately record test results
Upload inspection results and certifications to compliance systems
Compliance & Safety
Identify defective or unsafe electrical appliances
Record faults and escalate issues to ensure timely remedial action
⭐ Essential Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience within housing or social housing environments
Proven background in electrical inspection and testing within domestic settings
Strong experience with PAT testing
Ability to carry out remedial electrical installation works
Experience working safely in occupied residential properties
🎓 Essential Qualifications
City & Guilds 2377 - In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment (or equivalent)
City & Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
ECS or CSCS Card
Full UK Driving Licence
