£16.05 per hour Monday – Friday, Saturdays& Nights £16.14 per hour, Sundays £20.95 per hour
37.5 per week working Monday – Friday on a mix of 6.00am – 2.00pm and 2.00pm – 10.00pm
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. We are looking for 5 Sterile Service workers to join our friendly team. The Sterile Services department is at the heart of the Hospital; this critical service is responsible for the decontamination of medical devices for surgery and patient care. This is not a patient facing role but is very much patient focused and the patient is at the core of everything we do.
Your Duties Will Include
* Perform a thorough damp dust of work areas prior to commencement of work
* Accepting used surgical instruments into the department ready to be reprocessed.
* Correctly loading the washer-disinfector and autoclave to ensure effective decontamination of the entire load.
* Ensuring a full inspection of the load is carried out prior to packaging the instruments for sterilization.
* Packaging instruments, when applicable, in accordance with Hospital policy.
* Recording and reporting any failed runs to the Theatre Manager.
* Reporting any problems/anticipated problems to the Theatre Manager as soon as possible.
* Inspecting all sterile packages for integrity once the load has cooled sufficiently and returning any compromised packages to be re-packaged and re-autoclaved.
* Returning decontaminated goods back to respective departments as soon as possible.
* Ensuring all items passed through a decontamination process have a traceability label attached/available.
* Ensuring all relevant paperwork within the department is completed.
* Undertaking daily checks of all machinery and keeping records of the checks.
* Ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained within the department.
* Accepting and processing equipment from outside agencies
Skills Required
* A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.
* Evidence of previous sterile services experience
* Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy.
* Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high-quality service.
* To be able to handle manual handling duties up to 13kg.
